Olmert did a very interesting interview for the BBC during the second week of Lebanon2 and was asked the very question you elude to in your response.
Olmert stated very clearly the reason that Isral was bombing the civilian infrastructure and residential area was that it was Israel`s intention to drive a wedge between Hezbollah, and their military wing and the indigenous population of South Lebanon.
It is obvious that Olmert does not understand that for the Shia population of Southern Lebanon see Hezbollah as victors over both Israel and Israeli sponsored christian militias. Olmert also does not realise that most Lebanese support the taking of the soldiers as bargaining chips to force Israel to release thousands of imprisoned Lebanese that they believe are imprisoned in Israel.
Basically Olmerts lack of understanding caused Lebanon2, and Israel`s loss of Lebanon2 |
