We take a pride in being reasonable because it avoids extremism of all sort. Extremists always think the world is simple, that it`s all black and white, that they`re all right and others are all wrong. Because England`s been around a long time, we`ve seen ideologies come and go, empires (including our own) rise and fall. So we take it all, as we say, with a pinch of salt. Some Brits back Israel and some back the Pals, but many on both sides can see that thare is fault, and good, on both sides.
