| The devil is in the details as is often the case with laws. The question is not about the intent of the law. It is whether the law can be misused. If it is available to a politician to silence or harrass a critic for expressing a legitimate opinion then it has no place in a free society. Forums where people of different viewpoints rub elbows and engage in discourse are naturally contentious and even verbally abusive environments. They have an important role in judging the boundaries of opinion on any given issue. To force them into censorship, whether it be self imposed or imposed by force of law, is a disservice to the community. Those with thin skin should seek other outlets. |
