| A Jewish State (whether religious or secular) with a stated national purpose as the homeland of the Jews has no inherent racist character because there`s no "races" involved. England is constitutionally defined as an Anglican State, Sweden as a Lutheran State, Italy as a Catholic State, plus dozens of Islamic States - Saudi, Libya, Iran, Pakistan. Non-Jews could have slightly fewer rights than the Jewish majority, but American Jews have slightly fewer rights that the Christian majority in the US - no overtime pay for work on our Sabbath (which Christians get), Christmas is a state holiday but Jewish holidays are not, etc. Its a minor thing, there is no perfect equality - its the main things that count, and Israel does a far better job of providing equality and basic human rights to Non-Jews than any Muslim country does to providing rights to Christians or Jews. Now even Haaretz gets it - refusal of Abbas` PA to recognize Israel as the Jewish State ends the peace process. And it should! |
