Being a Jewish state means that the state is guided by Jewish principles, that Hebrew is our main official language, that it is Jewish holy days that form the calendar of public holidays and it is Saturday that is our Sabbath. It also means that we intend always to have a Jewish majority population.
We have non-Jewish ministers and MKs and Arabic is also an official language. There is no legislation to stop a non-Jew from being Prime Minister.
Compare this to the UK where you have to be not only Christian, but a member of the Anglican Church, to be Prime Minister. |
