| Bush cannot get past the threat of Iranian motorboats. It brings to mind the Gulf of Tonkin resolution, in which a false claim of an attack upon two American warships caused the American congress to authorize the president to invade Vietnam without a declaration of war. In the days since the war ended, the phantom naval attack was proven by American naval officers and officials to have been completely fabricated. There have been other ways in which Bush seems to be losing his marbles as well. He seems hell bent on expanding the mideast war and then tossing this hot potato to the incoming president. Perhaps he thinks that this will get a republican elected. |
