The article is correct. Rightly or wrongly, the world has concluded after the US intelligence report that Iran`s nuclear plans are not a threat. That, of course, may change, but currently people are much more worried about global warming and the weakness of the US economy threatening other western economies. A war with Iran just isn`t something they`re interested in.
Which is a problem for Bush, because he would clearly love a war, but can`t now pay for it. Olmert knows that Israel can`t really stop the Iranian nuclear programme on its own, so both are now reduced to increasingly empty threats, that the world and Iran ignore.
`Israel is not ruling out any options to block Iranian nukes.` Translation: `I`m not actually going to say we`ll attack Iran because we can`t and I don`t want to look even more of an idiot, however, I`m desperate to look tough. So do I look tough now? Anyone? Hello? Hello? Anyone listening?` |
