I tend to agree with Olmert in this dispute. There should be no concessions to the settlers of the outposts since the settlements are illegal and mostly built on private Arab land. Lawlessness should not be rewarded. Barak knows it but is playing a dirty political game.
The settlers` claim that they are the true Zionists is ridiculous. Why don`t they settle Negev and the Galil which is part of Israel? There is still much land left there to settle. What they call Judea and Samaria are historical names from a very distant past. The reality is that this is an area inhabited by Arabs for centuries and is destined to be a part of a Palestinian state.
The wisecracks who claim that Jordan is the Palestinian state should ask Jordan if it agrees to it, or go to the UN with their "smart" solution. Israel has no more right to determine what should Jordan do than Jordan has to decide what Israel should do.
I love Israel, and I believe that only peace will bring it security. |
