I do not believe that anyone is suggesting that US companies do anything other than chase the best return on investment, and so a company like Intel has no interest in Iraq.
Chris was talking about US Foreign Policy, and I can`t really see the US State Department have a seat on Intel`s Board of Directors any time soon.
But his point is valid; US foreign policy directs aid (financial and military) to Israel because that serves US interests.
Or, at least, it SHOULD be given on that basis.
If the paramount US interest in the ME is now to find a counter to Iran then it is axiomatic that this aid will flow whereever that interest is best met.
And if Iraq fronts onto Iran - and it does - and if Israel does not front onto Iran - and it doesn`t - then once the US determines that Iraq is stable enough then it is reasonable to assume that aid and money will be diverted AWAY from Israel and TOWARDS Iraq. |
