| The settlers are not an impediment to peace. They are part of a strategy being used by Israel to avoid peace. The settlers themselves are simply tools of the state, as were the Gush Katif settlers. By flooding the west bank with settlers, Israel would hope to achieve "post peace" territorial gains. In the event of any peace agreement, some of the settlements would have to be evacuated. Israel knows this, but continues the expansion nonetheless. In the end, some of the settlers will be winners and some will be losers. This won`t be determined unless and until a peace agreement is implimented. It may be a long, long time before this happens. |
