President Bush is echoing the traditional American concern for Arab nationalism that the missionaries wanted to bring to the Arab world in the `twenties. He is just following in that time-honored tradition. Witness the creation of American Universities in the Middle east. So for an American President to come to the Prime Minister`s residence and tell his ministers to end the occupation is a pretty huge accomplishment for the Palestinians. But somewhere it makes me think of Haman and Purim.
