I think it`s only appropriate, the man has so much blood on his hands, that he gets the bloody red carpet treatment. I personally have mixed feelings about his visit. I want him to go there but I want him to go through all these checkpoints and wait hours like Palestinians do - and get to see how American money is being spent. I want him to see how foreign aid is used as he looks out the West Bank landscape and sees all these illegal settlements on hilltops towering over the oppressed natives. I want him to see up close the abomination of the apartheid wall Uncle Sam helped pay for.
On other hand, he has satellites photos, if he is curious to see the territory from above. The problem is, he is not curious or even cares what happens on ground. This is all a sham, a photo op at best. Bush comes to deliver Olmert`s demands.
The good news, by this time next year, Bush,Abbas, and Olmert will be gone. This is Bush`s swan song, a trip for peace? Pathetic! What mendacity! |
