It appears that in Lebanon there is a similar problem to that which exists in Gaza: the parties who are in political power are not in synch with the people who have the guns in the field, and the people who have the guns in the field are unable to control various militant factions who have weapons that can be fired into Israel. Any group with a rocket launcher can, in essence, take any action according to their whims. In circumstances like this any extremist group is free to torpedo any cease fire. The north like Gaza is a voth volatile areas and any spark could set things off. It will be interesting to see what the international community will have to say about Israel being in constant threat of rocket fire from non government organizations of which even Hezballah seems to absolve itself from responsibility. And, incidently, rocket fire is not detectable during thunderstorms.... |
