Natalie, believe it or not, the entire military and political program of Hamas negates reams of agreements and statements on the Palestinian side that has time and time again obligated itself to a) believe it or not recognize Israeli authority as a legitimate state authority, b) not deliberately target civilians.
They might as well talk.
btw, the underlying motivation here has nothing to do with gaining or not gaining American support or undercutting American support for Israel--both sides have elements that recognize that peace is in both sides` interests, regardless as to whatever foreign powers either side can fantasize about supporting the elimination of the other. |
