| Like children rushing to clean their room before the parent enters, Abbas and Olmert make a meaningless deal to pursue deadend talks. As long as you are interested in agreements, promises, and talk, then Israel can deliver like no other. Taking action on the promises is another thing. In Israel there is no actual connection between making a promise to America and fulfulling that promise. It`s like apples and oranges. Most American presidents are quite content with the promises. Grab a few headlines, get nominated for a nobel prize, end of story. Bush knows the game by now, because Condi told him. The question is, will he be content with more meaningless promises. If so, Olmert has already started to deliver in advance of the visit. |
