| The tunnels are only a problem for smuggling drugs, cigarettes and counterfeit watches. The problem is Egypt illegally flooding the demilitarized Sinai with weapons and explosives from its own military warehouses. Egypt is a police state with no arms black market on this scale. There is no other source but Egypt`s army for this stuff, and Egypt strictly controls the Port Said-El-Arish-Rafah highway on which these truckloads of weapons travel. 300 tons of volatile explosives does not travel 200 miles on bedouin camels, its transported by 18 wheel semi trucks. Egypt is fooling nobody, especially the US Congress, which should step up efforts to cut ALL military aid and spare parts to Egypt if it doesn`t align with the Peace Agreement immediately. Failure of the US, as treaty sponsor, to punish Egypt tells Israel its not safe to rely on peace deals with Syria or the PA. |
