The mercenary companies are owned by party activists and make huge donations to the Republican coffers. Rather than spend the money on our own troops so we can recruit and retain personnel, Bush`s cronies get hundreds of millions in profits and complete immunity for their actions. They have even murdered with impunity (though the murders have been expelled from Iraq). Its a scam of our taxpayers to enrich cronies at the expense of people serving in the Armed Forces.
the PA counterinsurgency is a work in progress. It still has a long way to go. But it can be done, probably in a shorter period of time that you or I may expect.
In Iraq, we just had two of our soldiers shot by a member of the Iraqi forces. Vetting of personnel is not perfect there either. But the death and injury rates have declined dramatically and Iraqi forces have increased by nearly 100,000 in the last 6 months.
