It is a common fallacy in the west that economic stability would calm the fires of the Palestinian people. This is an extension of the if A then B unproved, untested formula. It was at the height of their prosperity that the first Intifada broke out.
I`m afraid that the causes of the dissent are much deeper than those the West see. I would like to see the PA educating its children for peace and not for war. Hatred and resistance to the idea of an Israeli state are being inculcated in the young by the school systems and by the media. How can they grow up to want peace? |
