The conference is an excellent idea, if the PA`s "economic rehabilitation" will indeed be front and centre on the agenda.
Gordon Brown had a superb record as Chancellor of the Exchequer; he is one of the finest economists around. Mr Olmert of course also has experience as a finance minister; and the PA`s pragmatic Salam Fayyad is a noted economist as well.
These three men should be able to hammer out how best to implement the PA`s economic revival. A better material life, especially for one`s children, should help convince the "man on the street" in Ramallah or Nablus that the peace which brought it is better, too.
