I disagree with your take that democrats engaged in any sort of radical leftism the past forty years. In any event, the past is past.
But I will say this--any sort of accomodation the dems have attempted to make with the repubs recently has been absolutely shot down. Bipartisanship has come to mean the repub way or the highway. The cowardly dem congress was elected in large part to end the war. What a joke. No wonder Reid and Pelosi are held in contempt--by democrats.
As the old wag said--given a choice between a republican-lite and a real republican, the voters will select a real republican every time. And no matter how dems in congress vote, they will ALWAYS be tarred by repubs as soft on terra. So they might as well vote the right way.
Dems need to articulate a strong message to the 80% of the population that is getting screwed economically and run on that. They will win if they do.
That`s why I remain an Edwards supporter. Obama will do. Hillary, nah. |
