Seems like a real good time for moderates on both sides of the conflict to really start cracking down on dissenters (Settlement builders, Militants/Terrorists) in order to shore up trust in leaders to the benefit of both populations. Especially with the threat of elections hanging in the air over both the Palestinians and Israelis.
Sadly, however, there are still large gaps that both peoples would need to overlook in order for the moderates to succeed. And the biggest one of all is the Gaza Strip. Both the rockets and the embargo are going to feed into the more hawkish elements for quite a while. And will play heavily when the calls for new elections come along. |
