The Palestinians will never be able to build up (and make work) their security forces as long as Israel is launching incursions into the West Bank, as if she still would be "at home" there.
On the other hand, as long as there is a credible "peace-process" ongoing, the Israelis have the right to live without fear of any attacks from the West Bank.
Therefore, as long as the PA is not yet able to stop all the violence, Israel should be al- lowed to make a few limited and pointed sweeps, if she has credible intelligence that immediate danger for her citizens is on the horizon.
However, such incursions must only be launched AFTER consultation with the PA.
The IDF soldiers must get used to the idea that in a few months they will no longer "be the boss" in Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarem and Ramallah. |
