| For many years Israels political establish- ment has chickened out when it came to confront the issue of (illegal) settlements. Isn`t it ironic that exactly the Palestinian "almost civil-war" from last year has built now a momentum, where the pressure even from Israels best allies in the world is growing in a way, that it can no longer be resisted by Israels governement. And thank the Lord that the Iowa voters have set a clear signal last night by voting for a person with backbone (and unlike Hillary a strong resentment towards too powerful lobby groups). With Hillary in the White House there would have been a tremendous danger of a U.S. retreat from the road to peace Condi has paved over the past weeks. I have no doubt that Obama will bring that road to a good end. And the reasonable people in Israel and Palesti- ne will benefit from it. |
