There are many - read the posts upon this article - who are fabidly opposed to ANY peace between Israel and the Arab world.

There is a King of an Arab neighbor of Israel urging a prudent course of action towards such a goal.

The Egyptian presence upon the Gaza border has been restricted for 30 years by a treaty between Israel and Egypt. While NEITHER side wishes a stronger Egyptian presence upon the Gaza border, that treaty limits the ability of Egypt to restrict arms smuggling to Gaza.

Jordan, under no such limits, is very effective in limiting arms smuggling to the West Bank.

If EITHER Egypt or Jordan desired to see make life miserable for Israelis all they would have to do is NOTHING.

They do not, and Israel is far more `secure` - aside from the insecurity resulting from the occupation - than it was 50 years ago when it had no peace with any neighbor.
