| For the past 15 years, those very Federation leaders now bleating about Rabbi Eckstein, have cut the amount of money they send to the Jewish Agency for all overseas Jewish needs by half. It has been a determined process that led to the elimination of the UJA and the creation of the UJC. It has NOTHING to do with supporting or not supporting Israeli government positions. It has everything to do with determining that local needs in America had to come first. Instead of increasing campaign efforts and raising more; the Federations leaders (almost all) elected to reduce the amount sent overseas from the annual campaign. It is two-faced to look at the recognition now accorded Eckstein (he is a JEW; bot a Messianic Jew)whose movement has been donating millions annually for years, as something shocking or bad. The real shock is the American Jewish Federations` so called "anger" at those who steppped in and have done what they have almost stopped doing themselves. |
