An Israeli is anyone who is a citizen of Israel. S/he can be Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Druze, Bahai, atheist, etc.
A Jew is anyone who has adopted Judaism as his religion. S/he can be Russian, British, American, Etheopian, Indian, Brazillian, etc.
Judaism, like Islam and Christianity, is a religion and anyone can convert to Judaism (or other religions) regardless of his race or ethnic background.
As an Israeli Muslim Arab, I can (if I want) become an Australian citizen (a legal status) and convert to Christianity (a religion), but there is no way for me to convert and become a member of the Aboriginy race! |
