The border along the Philadelphi route was only under Israeli control on the Gaza side - in hostile territory and without the ability to patrol the Egyptian side. Nevertheless, Israel did close down tunnels and prevent much of the smuggling. Nowhere near the number of qassams were fired prior to the evacuation of Gaza - not to mention the much larger warheads they now carry. Further, Hamas had nowhere near the quantity of medium weapons that they have today (including large numbers of rocket launchers and heavy machine guns that they openly displayed on television just yesterday).
Your also wrong about "Jewish pride". The "honor thing" is something that comes much more into play on the other side! |
