Obviously we cannot know what goes on behind closed doors of negotiations. However, we can see only what is said and shown in the public domain. Radio, tv and so forth. All I can see from the Palestinians is vitriolic hatred towards Israel, and Jews. I`ve heard nothing except their demands, but nothing about what they offer. I see Palestinian TV teaching their children to hate, archive footage of Arafat reviewing armed children and praising their commitment to Israel`s destruction. How peace is possible with that attitude is beyond my comprehension.
I honestly don`t expect a personal answer, given your busy schedule, but I have two questions for you, and I hope you publish an answer at some time:
#1 - Can you, Mr. Peres, see hope for peace WITHOUT slicing up Israel`s legal borders?
#2 - Israel has given so much over the years, and suffered so much - is there anything offered TO Israel that engenders optimism from your perspective?
