the man was clearly NOT an antisemite. it`s easy enough to see based on what is said about his writing and activities throughout his life, that the so-called "antisemitic" comments were indeed outbursts of temper brought on by anger and frustration. absolutely NO ONE is exempt from saying things we ordinarily would never dream of saying, or even thinking for that matter, when expression anger and frustration. i venture that if those who had roused his ire had been irish; he`d have lambasted them just as lavishly using the exact same adjectives.
of course no one can inside another man`s mind or his soul; but judging from the man`s life, he was no antisemitic! |
