There were sometimes in the past when a moderate like Mohamad Khatami had offered some levels of dialog with the US and Israel. I was at Cambridge, MA, when he gave a speech at HARVARD in 1999. And at the same time an Iranian movie called "Gold Fish" played at Harvard Cinema when he came.
But the US and Israel Lobby hardly reacted in a positive manner to Khatami. After years in office, he failed to explain why US and Israel didn`t want to compromize for comprehensive peace in middle east. Those Mullahs turned away from him. And Ahmadinejad that you got with all his loudmouth about things Israel doesn`t like.
So, this hostility is hardly about Ahmadinejad, but far beyond that. |
