Anshel Pfeffer, Haaretz Jewish World Correspondent: Satmar rabbi to arrive in Israel, lay J'lem housing project foundation
Talkback
Title:zion, ultra orthodox, chiloni
Name:chaim
City: miami beachState: florida
The author is writing this with first hand knowledge, he is related to the Satmer rabbis plural the previous Rabbi Joel Titlebaum, and his heir Rabbi Moses Titelbaum, with whom I spent the war years together in the Bergen Belzen concentration camps, after which spent many years living together with Rabbi Moses Titelebaum in various DP Camps and after we immigrated to the United States (we were denied entry to Israel by our allies the British) and I very close with his children, the current Rabbi Aahron and his brother Yicsial Yehuda commonly known as Rabbi Zalmen in their home and latter in Florida in my house, had many discussions regarding modern Israel, the value and the despair it causes for many Jews, but one thing is irrefutable Both Rabbi Joel Titlebaum , and his Nephew Rabbi Moses Titelbaum love for the land was total the only difference was in how to address such land, they referred to it as Eretz Yisrael, while others refered to it as Madinat Yisrael.
As you may note I am not hiding behind a misleading obscure name, I have many of my opinions and articles published in many Israeli, and US newspapers. This issue of objecting to the current modern state of Israel has been a bone of contention not only between ?Satmer? but most of strictly ?Litvish, yeshivas and many other believers of strict interpretation of latter day rabbinical authorities.
I will not get involved with when it actually began, but an inner core of belief is allowed in what we consider a democracy, regardless if it conforms to the opinion of the masses, specifically when such belief is based upon a viable supported precedent opinion from their leadership, which according to their way of thinking any man made object or ideas have a very finite longevity.
At this time the Jury is still out just which ideology has merit, Herzl, or the believers of a ?Jewish Value? Israel
Herzl followers have no religious historical ties to Israel, as they do not have any true belief of God and his special gift of Israel to the Jewish Nation, hence there is nothing sacred that cannot be bartered away for the illusion of peace with sworn enemies, yet the true believers that Israel is Jewish and that right is contained in the Torah, so the special sanctity attributed to Israel does not belong to the vagrancies of human emotions or follies.
As current events are unfolding the Human factor of Governing Israel is at this time predominant, and the political system is rife with corruption and will with time fold like a lawn chair to the demands of the worlds need for oil.
The future is hidden from us so the only way we will know who is right will only be revealed by time.
Disagreement with a political ideology is no cause to raise such rancor and divineness, Jewish differencing ideas do not kill, in sharp contrast to Islamic differences.
