I have sent money to Darfur-The Arab Muslim genocide. My husband sent a telegram to our Senator Moynihan asking him to help stop the genocide in Rawanda-it helped.
We givecharity money to victims of disaster mostly through Jewish agencies-regarding Hurricane Katrina we sent some money through the American Red Cross because they recognize the Magen David ,these days, but because of the fraud in the 9/11 World trade scandal( During 9/11 my husband went directly to our local firehouse and I went inside to give our money directly to the Fireman`s fund for Widows and orphans) we only gave twenty five dollars and the rest through Jewish charity-the Red Cross mishandeled Katrina money as I thought they would.There are non Jewish charities I send money to but regarding global disasters-Kosovo and the Tsunami being such events,we want people to know that hard earned middle working class Jewish money is being sent to help.I also give money to the Salvation Army with Santa hats but Never Forget! |
