It was a general athmosphere of fear and hatred and bigotry, that made the Holocaust possible. The Holocaust was a massive crime and it has a powerful and important UNIVERSAL lesson: that hatred and lies and discrimination against ALL other groups of people are WRONG. Those, who spread Islamophobia now are not ONE INCH better, than those, who prepared the way for the Holocaust, not ONE INCH. God may forgive them, if they acted out of ignorance. But always remember this guy, Julius Streicher, who promoted hatred against Jews, using as a slogan "The Jews are our misfortune" which goes back to the Christian reformer M. Luther - he ended up on a hangmans rope, after his trial at Nuremberg.
Those, who spread Islamophobia now are the anti-Semites of the 21st century, because the pattern is EXACTLY the same: a group of people is blamed for the act of some, which serve as a pretext. Google for Herschel Grynszpan and Kristallnacht, and learn, that the Nazis did the same. |
