The Mufti was not in a position to order Hitler, of course, but a number of Nazi war criminals who were convicted at Nuremberg testified he was a major figure in the planning of the Final Solution. He was part of the the discussions prior to Wannsee that led to the Nazi decision that Jews would not be deported to a location outside of Europe, but would be eliminated. He was part of a major diplomatic effort convince various governments, like Hungary, not to allow Jews to leave the country but rather be transferred to "active control in Poland". The Mufti also set up SS divisions for Muslims in the Balkans and Caucasus.
The documents are freely available, and if you choose not to believe, I feel very sorry about that, but facts are facts. The Mufti was not merely a Nazi collaborator, he was a Holocaust perpetrator. |
