Even the war criminal Ariel Sharon saw the necessity for a two-state solution. The question has always been which scraps of unwanted real estate Israel will decide to toss the Palestinians. Sharon envisaged a collection of weak, geographically divided ghettos, with movement between each at the whim of the Israelis. All the moves on the ground suggest that this too is what Olmert has in mind - leading to a Palestinian State that consists of the North West Bank Ghetto, the South West Bank Ghetto, the Inner East Jerusalem Ghetto, the Outer East Jerusalem Ghetto and Gaza. No state at all, in fact, and absolutely unacceptable to the Palestinian people.
