Title: I`m learning Name: Doug McFarlan City: El Paso State: Texas
I`m an American learning alot about the Middle East through this forum. Seems this article sums it up that "equal rights will destroy Israel." What does this mean? Israel depends on maintaining an Apartheid system? I thought we were supposed to like Israel because it is a democracy? I thought the argument is that Arabs are irrational in resisting Israel, because Isreal is so democratic? This statement helped me understand the reality of why Palestinians don`t like the situation as imposed on them (it also seems that they need protection from housing demolitions and etc that are carried out to further the settlement of Jews). Also, I am learning alot about the people from their comments here. What I see is a lot of real hate from Israelis here, and Palestinians saying just leave us alone. We didn`t ask to be part of a conflict. I do see that there are good Isrelis, I hope that they can overcome the haters. Especially since my country always has to pay the bill!!!
