If we are to follow Dayan`s argument, then we must conclude that the existence of a people of another race with full civil, religious and political rights threatens `the very existence of Israel`. Therefore we should deny this other race such rights or indeed any existence whatsoever, all in the name of Israeli security.
This is the fear which lies at the heart of the illegal occupation. A fear which is either entirely irrational in relation to the sanctity of human life, or still worse, the entirely rational product of a perverse and sinister mind. |
