A considerable amount of new writing on scientific topics is currently being published in Yiddish magazines. Just to take one example, if we look at the most recent issue of Yugntruf, Yiddiah Youth Magazine (103) we find in the list of contents several poems on scientific subjects by Shmoyl Nydorf, including "An Invitation to Mr. Atom"; a play by four authors which deals with the need for alternative energy; the second installment of an article "Cold Science" by Berish Goldstein, describing fieldwork relating to ecological problems; and "An Upheaval of Worlds" by Robert Cuckson, a science fiction story. It would be easy to supply other examples. The authors express their ideas fully in Yiddish and often contribute new Yiddish vocabulary, just as is seen with science writing in other languages.
