| It makes sense that most Americans would support Israel. A society that believes in freedom, loves its children, reaches out to the world and contributes mightily to the betterment and prosperity of the global community. Also, consider this: the Jews love America. America has not only given the Jewish spirit respite from the bitterness and rancor of the antisemites so lavishly illuminated on this website, but in return the Jewish people have utterly engaged in science, art, music, literature, medicine; in fact all the attributes of a great, modern and liberal society. I am an American Jew, and I love this imperfect country. And I know we are capable of having a better government, and will soon. But Americans will always side with those who do not blow up their own, or spew hatred of the "Death To America" type, or insidiously await in their hearts for the triumph of sharia so we can return to the repressive, misogynist, mediocrity of acrid theocracy. |
