First of all: the data reported here are actions against Jews, for being Jews or recognizable as such. There`s no recourse to the cloak anti-zionism when someone with a skull cap is harassed or worse.
In Amsterdam, as in Europe and actually everywhere in the world (including Tel Aviv or Jerusalem) street anti-semitism occurs.
However, Cidi`s media-horniness as well as Ha`aretz love for horrific sounding headlines are absolutely misrepresenting the facts. A 64% increase constitutes of fake statistics that ridiculously non-representative. We`re talking about 261 recorded incidents, i.e. less than half of a percent of Jews in the Netherlands.
However despicable, 7 incidents of violence, is what the intelligent observer would call an anomaly.
Only self delusion would be able to translate this into a trend. And let`s turn all our efforts into keeping these excesses sad and extra-ordinary. Efforts that should include a peace process. |
