| No matter how it happened, it was an atrocity. Two published eye-witness accounts say that naked Jews walked into the ravine at ground-level, over the bodies of the slaughtered, kneeled, and were shot in the back of the head by machine gun crews. It went on for more than 48 hours continuously. I visite the site. The brutality was thus worse, being very very personal, one at a time, shooter and victem. Ukrainian police eaterly collaborated with the Nazis. This happened all over Ukraine, often at ravines, but also in town squares where they dug trenches first for the bodies. When I visited a desecrated Jewish graveyard, I found the number "666" painted neatly on a nearby cliff, with an arrow pointing to the graveyard. "666" to Christians is the sign of the anti-Christ. This was 60 years after the last living Jew vanished from Talnoya. They are still teaching virulent anti-Semitism when they have never seen a Jew.
