Channel 10 and Haaretz Staff: Girl kicked out of day care because she is mentally challenged
Talkback
Title:This doesn`t happen everyplace in Israel...
Name:shosh
City: State:
My son had a down`s syndrome girl in his public gan trom-chova (ages 3-4).
She had an aide part of the time (covered by the city or misrad hachinukh - not sure which)and the rest of the time the teachers had no extra help. Not a single parent said anything negative about it. In fact, most were very happy their kids got to learn how to deal with a child who was a bit different yet the same as them.

For that matter, even now, my son`s afterschool care (private) has a boy who has a physical disability and cannot really walk on his own (at age 4). THe other kids accept him for who he is (though yes, i admit i had to explain to my 4yr old last year that just because the boy crawled, he was not a baby). Again, not a single parent has ever said a word against this boy or his family.

For that matter, my older son had a girl with Cerebal Palsy in his WIZO daycare for several years and again, no one was upset.

So don`t judge the whole country by one group of ignorant parents.
