Channel 10 and Haaretz Staff: Girl kicked out of day care because she is mentally challenged
Talkback
Title:Aviv - mentally challenged
Name:Irene Swartz
City: JerusalemState: Israel
My heart goes out to Aviv and her parents. As all of the above commented - the problem does not lie with Aviv but with the other bigoted parents. My son attended (a regular) school with a Down Syndrome child in his class and this child taught my son so much - compassion for others, patience, and above all acceptance. This child had a carer with him to help him and was loved by all - teachers and pupils alike. Whenever I saw him he made me want to smile simply because he always had a smile on his face. Oh, by the way, this child was politeness itself always saying please and thank you - something so many many Isreali children do not know how to say. Many of these mentally challenged children are dealt with as normal children by their parents who ignore the disability and they grow up to achieve so much.

Aviv and your parents, good luck for the future and may you reach great heights and show these bigots up for what they are.
