This story is so surreal, it bears consideration that perhaps there are two sides to it. We weren`t told what her disability is (there are MANY to be had), and were shown only a few snapshots of her being calm. What if she has crises that involve seizures that could terrify the other children and cause a medical nightmare for the staff? What if she has behavioral outbursts that are consistently disruptive, even dangerous? What if her parents, in being overprotective, made outrageous demands of the staff that infringe on the rights of the other children? I honestly hope that in bringing this issue to our attention, it IS because of a genuine problem, and we are not all being made to losing faith in our country for shock-value. |
