| NZ is made up mainly of Maoris and the decendants of its first white people (Pakehas) from Scotland and Britain. A majority of white caucasian NZers are Church of England and Protestant/Presbyterian. Of the NZers where I found anti-semitism rife is that among the Maoris and Catholics of Irish ancestors. True, the NZ Labor Govt run by Helen Clarke has demonstrated pro-Palestinian, but a NZ National Party has always demonstrated pro-Israel. The cultural divisions you claim in your post is that of serious issues surrounding the Maori gangs for NZers have have a gutsful. There are also issues with NZ`s more recent "imports" of Muslims & Africans who are not assimuating, but is that any different to those same issues in Australia with their Muslim and African "imports"? Although the NZ Jewish community is small (and has doubled in recent years), they have a very close bond with the nation since their first arrival in or around 1826, they are highly regarded and respected among NZers. |
