My grandparents fled from Vienna to Milano just as Germany entered Austria. They were helped by Catholic friends that managed to obtain false papers for them. My grandmothers sister, the eldest decided to stay in Vienna. She did not believe that the country would turn against them, Jews who were 100 percent Austrian. Things did not go as believed. My grandmothers sister was amazingly beautiful, and Aryan looking. She was taken from the home, to a so called working camp, where she was converted into a sex slave for prisoners as well as Nazi druken soldiers. Carved into her breast, and visible today, Eigentum des "Dritten Reiches", property of the third Reich.
She survived the war, and has spoken about her experience to many audiences. Finally some recognition to another ugly chapter in the tragedy of the holocaust. |
