| In the secular world (As well as in many parts of the moderate religious communities), child abusers are outcast and banished from society. Such people are considered monsters and lose whatever social status they ever had. Well, we all know that in the Haredi society, many important rabbis and other public figures who abuse children are left unharmed, because of their power inside this closed, primitive society. A few months ago, a Haredi member of Knesset said in a press interview that he used to beat his children when they were little, and encouraged other parents to do the same. This sick man is still a leading MK here in Israel, very popular among his community. So yes, this isn`t sexual violence, but a society that views violence against children as legitimate and "Educational" obviously doesn`t show much respect for children and their rights as human beings. |
