you ask for "more statistics", but fail to realize that we were not given any statistics in this article. rather we were given the impression of someone about how many people contact his organization. firstly, we must rely on his estimation to be accurate (it is prone to recall bias since its easier to remember if a hareedi contacts you as opposed to a run of the mill israeli). Secondly, the proportion of peaple contacting his organization likely is not the same proportion of people undergoing sexual abuse: haredim likely prefer to go to a secular organization outside of their community in order to report something as embarrassing as sexual abuse. the secular israelis may report it to friends/relatives etc.
when you read articles that give you "statistics" that are not statistics, you need to evaluate them with a crtical eye. |
