| Here is the gist of this malignantly misleading article: 1. The Qassam rockets are akin to the V2 rockets. 2.The Qassam rockets forces Israel to spend billions to develope adequately reliable interception system. Both are patently wrong. The V2 system was an outer space guided missile carrying 1 ton of high explosives. The Qassams are pathetic low trajectory rockets with minimal destructive power. In the 4 or so years which they have been launched, their technology and capabilities have not improved. The motives behind using both weapons differred. The The V2 was called a Vergeltung weapon- a revenge weapon designed to cause terror and destruction at a time when the power of the Luftwaffe was ebbing. The Qassams are a cris de coeur- we are still here and holding our head up. The way to stop the Qassams (or Katyushas) is not to spend billions on anti ballistic missile system but to truely pull out of Gaza and let the Palestinian live like normal human beings. |
