| If we recognize the Ukranian famine now, that would in no way reflect upon those Russians who are alive today. It was during the Stalinist period and it`s no secret how cruel he was. I don`t understand why the Russians are so testy about it just as I don`t understand the Turks of today, none of whom were alive then,in not recognizing the genocide of the Armenians. I met Armenian-Americans in college who were just as sensitive about that as we Jews are about the Holocaust. The US did terrible things against the African and Native Americans, but they don`t sweep it under the rug. The write books and make movies about it. They teach it to their kids. It`s a sad chapter in history that needs to be spoken about. |
